myfordtractors.com IS UP!!

My new web site, myfordtractors.com is up and working!

These moves are never as simple as it seems they should be. I have done some testing and the page links within the site seem to have survived the move (fingers crossed). Both web sites will remain up for a while, but I will start changing pages on the old site to redirect to the new dot com location, starting with the least popular pages.

Ok, it's done. All of the old pages are redirected to the new site. There were some "page not found" or "site unavailable" issues. Those seem to have been resolved.

The lesson here is NEVER use a free web site to start something that may outgrow the allowable bandwidth. You lose whatever ranking your site had when you move it to a dot com. Nobody supports moving from a free web site and retaining rankings.

  1. I have recently purchased an 8n tractor. The push button start switch was working, but quit during a time I was attempting to crank my tractor. I have replaced the solenoid and the start button. I don't have the resistor behind the dash, but a resistor on the front of the side of the motor. Could you help.

    Thanks

  2. Hi Chad,

Replacement parts these days are highly questionable. Just because you replaced something does not mean it is good. Sad that we have this additional issue when trying to fix something.

The pushbutton is easy to check with a test light or ohmmeter. Mash the button and the terminal should become grounded.

The solenoid could be several issues. The new one could be bad or it could be the wrong one. The 6-volt tractor solenoid is different from the nearly identical one on many automobiles. The cars take a live wire from the START terminal on the ignition switch that energizes the solenoid to crank the engine. The tractor solenoid terminal is hot all the time and goes to ground through the start pushbutton. The two solenoids may look the same but they are not interchangeable. Then, if it is the right solenoid, it needs to be mounted so the small terminal is on the back between the solenoid and the engine.

    Hope this helps,
    Kevin
